Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The South Sudan Government and medical charity \u2013 MSF have signed a Host Country Agreement that recognizes the organization\u2019s presence legal status in the country.<\/p>\n

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. James Morgan Pitia inked the deal on behalf of the Government of South Sudan while Mamman Mustapha, Head of Mission in South Sudan, represented MSF.<\/p>\n

The agreement, governed by International Law, recognizes MSF\u2019s legal status as an International Organization and grants its registration in the country, according to a press statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n

It will enable MSF to create a conducive and supportive framework for operations and enhance collaboration with all Government Ministries, including the Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n

Mamman MUSTAPHA, MSF Head of Mission in South Sudan said he was pleased to sign the accord with as it indicates a close collaboration between MSF and government authorities to ensure smooth delivery of aid across the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough Host Country Agreement, MSF further aims at strengthening the cooperation with the government of South Sudan and its concerned ministries for the smooth running of current operations and ensuring its prompt interventions to address medical and humanitarian needs in case of emergencies,\u201d Mustapha said.<\/p>\n

The international medical charity has been pivotal in providing care to populations in distress and victims of natural or man-made disasters and armed conflicts, regardless of race, religion or political beliefs.<\/p>\n

In 2023, MSF completes 40 years of its medical and humanitarian assistance in South Sudan.<\/p>\n

In the country, MSF delivers one of its largest assistance programs worldwide and it currently offers medical services through 13 regular projects in eight of the 10 states and two administrative areas.<\/p>\n

The medical charity also prides itself on specialized healthcare and response to emergencies and outbreaks affecting isolated communities, and internally displaced people.<\/p>\n
