Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Indian Ambassador to South Sudan Vishnu Kumar Sharma called on South Sudanese and Indians to use cultural festivals as avenues to explore various cultures and build close relations.<\/p>\n

The Ambassador made the remark during a cultural festival organised by the Embassy of India in Juba in collaboration with the Indian Association in South Sudan (IASS) at the Hindu Temple premises in Juba over the weekend.<\/p>\n

In his address, the ambassador urged Indians to promote Indian culture while fostering people-to-people understanding between India and South Sudan to strengthen bilateral relations.<\/p>\n

According to the statement seen by The City Review, the event, which was organized during the ongoing \u201cNavratri\u201d\u2014 a nine-night-long Indian festival\u2014was aimed at promoting the cultural ties of the Indian diaspora with the native country as well as assisting the Indian diaspora in their efforts to promote Indian culture in South Sudan.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Vishnu appealed to India and South Sudan to learn from each other\u2019s cultures and embrace peace.<\/p>\n

He stated that diaspora engagement through cultural events is part of a proactive outreach policy of the Government of India to build peace around the world.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports in Central Equatoria State, Rita Dominic Jada, who presided over as the chief guest, appreciated the initiative of the Embassy to organize such events, arguing it would help in strengthening relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n

She added that the festival would provide opportunities for cultural assimilation between people from the two countries, and contribute towards creating a more inclusive and harmonious society.<\/p>\n

The event brought over 150 members of the Indian community and friends of India and South Sudanese together.<\/p>\n
