Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span> <\/b> South Sudan\u2019s minister of general education and instruction Awut Deng Acuil has promised to build ten schools in Unity State to boost service delivery as more citizens who had fled the country are being forced to return by the ongoing Sudanese conflict.<\/p>\n

Acuil travelled to Bentiu on Tuesday to attend the handover of Bentiu Girls Primary School build by the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF). The school was built with funding from the African Development Bank (AFDB).<\/p>\n

\u201cI assure you; the Ministry of General Education and Instruction will construct 10 additional schools to accommodate returnees who will go back to learning,\u201d she said during the ceremony attended by senior government officials in the state capital Bentiu.<\/p>\n

The senior government official further promised to include volunteer teachers in the government payroll and informed teachers that their salaries have also been increased.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government of South Sudan increased salaries for civil servants and teachers are also included in these salaries increment and I am informing you that volunteer teachers who have contributed to the community development will be added to the government payroll, so they have salaries,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile acting Unity State governor and state minister of local government and law enforcement agencies William Dak Koy thanked the minister, humanitarian, and developmental partners for the building of the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very happy with UNICEF and African development Bank for this wonderful school construction the state government will work hands in hands with education partners to have conducive learning schools in greater Bentiu,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

State minister of general education and instruction Stephen Tot Chieng appreciated UNICEF and the African development bank for the school and empathized the challengers being faced by all school children in Unity State.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we are here today to witness this wonderful and official handing over ceremony of Bentiu Girls Primary School, many school children are learning under trees because of flooding and limited primary schools in the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
