Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have accused each other of destroying the strategic Shambat Bridge, which links the cities of Khartoum Bahri and Omdurman.<\/p>\n

The army in a statement today said the RSF destroyed the bridge on Saturday morning as part of its \u201cdestructive project for the country\u2019s capabilities and infrastructure.\u201d<\/p>\n

The RSF, on the other hand, accused the army of destroying the bridge, saying that it was trying to demoralize its forces.<\/p>\n

In addition to the bridge, the fighting between the army and the RSF has also resulted in civilian casualties.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, a woman was killed, and others were injured when a shell fell in front of a hospital in Omdurman.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, two children and their grandmother were killed in a shelling attack in Bahri.<\/p>\n

The fighting has also led to looting and intimidation of civilians.<\/p>\n

The emergency room of Om Badda Tenth, which is located in one of the neighborhoods that has been hardest hit by the fighting, said that the RSF has been looting and terrorizing civilians.<\/p>\n

The fighting between the army and the RSF is the latest in a series of clashes between the two sides.<\/p>\n

The fighting has raised fears of a return to civil war in Sudan.<\/p>\n
