Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan Youth Union on Monday announced that it is cancelling the scheduled December convention to hold elections over alleged interference by the Minister of Youth and Sports.<\/p>\n

In October, the outgoing leadership of the youth union announced the 3rd National Youth Convention under the theme: \u201cTowards Sustainable Youth Development.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event timed to early December, would subsequently lead to election of new leaders.<\/p>\n

However, the youth union on Monday canceled the slated event due to what it describes as interreference in the electoral preparedness by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr Albino Bol.<\/p>\n

It accused the Minister of dividing the youth over the process.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are calling this Press Conference this morning to give highlight to the public and particularly the youth of South Sudan about the challenges that are facing us in conducting the national youth union\u2019s third\u2019s convention,\u201d said Majok Anyardit, Vice President of the South Sudan National Youth Union.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we announced earlier, on the roadmap and the many documents that we are going to conduct the national youth convention on the 9th of December 2023 as planned, this will not go on due to some challenges and particularly the interference from the minister of youth Dr Albino Bol.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has been an obstruction to the national youth union preparation to conduct the elections on time and as per now, we reached our limitations that we see elections will not take place as we planned due to the interference of the minister.\u201d<\/p>\n

The national Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture is yet to comment on the allegations.<\/p>\n
