Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Land applicants in Aweil Town who have not yet completed the necessary procedures to obtain title deeds have been given a one-week ultimatum to do so.<\/p>\n

This decision was made by the State\u2019s Ministry of Physical Infrastructure in an effort to speed up the process of land allocation.<\/p>\n

The Director General of the ministry, Mr. Akot Anguei Akot told Sudans Post today that many applicants have been holding on to their tokens, which are required to complete the process, for an extended period of time.<\/p>\n

He attributed this delay to the ongoing economic hardship in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand the economic challenges people are facing. However, we also have a responsibility to ensure that land is allocated fairly and efficiently,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis ultimatum is intended to expedite the process and ensure that land is available to those who are ready to utilize it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Some residents expressed concerns about the short timeframe, but the ministry remains firm in its decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have given them ample time to complete the process,\u201d Akot reiterated. \u201cFailure to comply will result in the forfeiture of their plots, which will then be allocated to those who are genuinely interested.\u201d<\/p>\n

The senior government official also revealed that the ministry is also considering alternative solutions to address the backlog of land applications.<\/p>\n

However, for now, the focus is on ensuring that those who are ready to move forward can do so without further delay.<\/p>\n
