Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>A regional integration expert is advising qualified South Sudanese to apply for jobs in the East African Community.<\/p>\n

Jacob Dut who is also an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Juba says there are many positions in the East African Community portals \u2013 an online recruitment process \u2013 but most South Sudanese are not aware.<\/p>\n

He said as an EAC member state, many South Sudanese should be employed in the secretariat of the bloc.<\/p>\n

Jacob \u2013 who authored three books including regional integration and South Sudan accession to the EAC \u2013 is now encouraging those interested to visit the website and apply for the jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a lot of positions that are being advertised now in the EAC portals, so South Sudanese are free to apply to get their quarters. The challenge is that our people are not really checking those positions,\u201d Dr Jacob said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are a lot of jobs, if you go to the EAC portal you get a lot of jobs there then you apply, as a member of the East Arica Community and then you can now be treated equally…<\/p>\n

The positions that are on the secretarial level are basically a quarter, they have the SG that comes from Kenya, you got deputy SG for political affairs coming from another country, then you have now productive sector comes from South Sudan, there is another SG with three deputy SG.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe other positions are all open for everybody in the region. The jobs are available on the EAC portal you can apply and actually if you don\u2019t get a chance you can go to court,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are mistreated you go to the court in Arusha, you say look here I applied and I was not given a chance to be heard, I was not interviewed, I was not shortlisted, the court will call the secretariat, why do you this to a citizen of the EAC, so we have to look for opportunities and we have to open our eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n

South Sudan joined the East African Community in 2016.<\/p>\n

On Friday, President Salva Kiir will take up the chairmanship of the regional bloc.<\/p>\n
