Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Northern Bahr el Ghazal government said a supply cut caused by flooding that submerged sections of the Juba-Bahr el Ghazal Highway and the influx of displaced people from Sudan have worsened high cost of living in the state.<\/p>\n

Information Minister William Anyuon said commercial goods have not been coming from Juba for a month since flooding caused by torrential rains submerged parts of the tarmacked highway in Aluak-Luak of Lakes State.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe prices have risen very high, due to the blockade on the road at Bahr el Ghazal Bridge, we have some issues of cutoff in lakes State at a place call Aluak-Luak,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Mr. Anyuon said this has resulted in increasing commodity prices in local markets.<\/p>\n

He also stated that the influx of returnees and refugees from the northern border has increased consumption demand amid limited resources.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, the goods are not reaching our side, and also because of many influxes of returnees and refugees at the boarder cause of high demand and price in the market become high, so this the situation we are in now in term of economy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Anyuon said the price of almost every commodity has doubled as a litter of oil that was once sold at 1,000 SSP now costs 2000 SSP.<\/p>\n
