Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Authorities in Raja County, Western Bahr el Ghazal state say more than 4,000 returnees are in dire need of food and drugs in the area.<\/p>\n

The returnees from conflict-torn Sudan are mainly children, women, and the elderly, according to Gismallah Hassan Dahia who is Raja County Commissioner spokesperson.<\/p>\n

He said the returnees fled several months ago from the Zamzum refugee camp in El Dein town of Eastern Darfur via Kafia Kingi to Bor al Madina of Raja County.<\/p>\n

Hassan says the returnees have been lacking food and drugs for months now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation of returnees is very hard and not good completely, they [returnees] need food and drugs, there are old people among those returnees, and they don\u2019t have that way of coming to Raja or Bora Madina,\u201d Hassan told Eye Radio.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe national government needs to help those people because the situation there is not that for human beings, there is no water, school, and shelters,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose returnees have coming from Boram and Rodom to Kafia Kingi and from Kafia to Bor al Madina, more than 4,000 people, they always coming through Boram and Seri Malaga,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey [returnees] need food assistance because their situation is unhuman situation, now they have gone several months without getting any assistance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the fighting erupted in Khartoum, the UN has registered more than 400,000 people who have crossed into South Sudan, with 90% of them South Sudanese.<\/p>\n
