Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>A tragic incident of revenge took a deadly turn in Wangkei Payam of Mayom County, Unity State, resulting in the death of a 28-year-old man.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Sudan Post on Wednesday, Mayom County\u2019s Police Director, Colonel Turkey Koang said the violent episode occurred around 10:00AM on Sunday, following a church prayer session in Wangkei Payam.<\/p>\n

\u201cA planned retaliation unfolded between two men working on the same road in Payam headquarters. One faction from a sub-clan carried out an attack against another,\u201d Col. Turkey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe motive was pinned to accusations of the deceased\u2019s involvement in the killing of their brother back in 2018. This escalated into a clash between the two families,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The senior police officer further said that identities of the deceased have not yet been uncovered and said that the killing has resulted in mass migration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe identities of both the attackers and the deceased have not been established. Formerly friends, this tragic turn stems from an unresolved case of revenge killing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe individual allegedly killed his friend, triggering a series of migrations to other Payams within Mayom,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

According to Col. Turkey, the lack of identification of both the assailants and the victim has heightened the complexity of the situation, leaving authorities with challenges in establishing the details surrounding this fatal altercation.<\/p>\n

The incident highlights the repercussions of unresolved conflicts and the distressing consequences they bring to communities, necessitating urgent measures to address underlying tensions and prevent further loss of life.<\/p>\n

The Mayom County Police Director further emphasized the need for swift and effective intervention to curb such acts of violence and ensure the safety and harmony of the community.<\/p>\n
