Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan\u2019s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen. Atem Marol Biar issued a directive to the entire traffic police department, emphasizing the imperative need to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations while upholding maximum discipline.<\/p>\n

During his visit to the Traffic Police Headquarters in Buluk suburbs of Juba on Wednesday, Gen. Marol underscored the qualities expected of a traffic officer, emphasizing the importance of being polite, organized, intelligent, and educated.<\/p>\n

Gen. Marol issued a stern warning to the traffic police, urging them to alter their attitudes towards road users. He emphasized that his administration would deploy personnel strategically to ensure the success of their duties.<\/p>\n

Lieutenant-General Abraham Manyuat Peter, Assistant Inspector General for Administration and Finance, highlighted the significant role of the traffic police in managing daily road usage, which can sometimes lead to accidents, deaths, or injuries. He urged officers to be both physically and mentally sharp, emphasizing the need to earn respect from citizens and be viewed as responsible individuals.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou represent the government; a government is essentially an organizer of people. Your responsibility on the roads is to coordinate people and cars to minimize accidents,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the police ambassadors on the roads, your value begins with your appearance. You must maintain cleanliness and a smart demeanour. When a civilian sees you, your presence should convey someone capable of solving problems. Disorderliness and a lack of manners indicate a lack of organization, rendering you unfit to represent the government. Good manners are imperative,\u201d emphasized Gen. Manut.<\/p>\n

On a different note, Kon John Akot, the Director General for Traffic, urged traffic officers to strictly adhere to the law and steer clear of politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not politicians. Involvement in politics, confusion, and other irregularities are strictly prohibited. If anyone engages in such activities, it should be reported. Let us respect the law,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
