Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>At least six senior members of the South Sudan United Front\/Army (SSUF\/A) Nairobi Declaration, a breakaway faction of General Paul Malong Awan, has joined the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement (SPLM) under President Salva Kiir Mayardit.<\/p>\n

The group led by military spokesman, Col. Philip Deng Kuol, shifted their allegiance to SPLM after they met with the Director General of the Internal Security Bureau (ISB) of the National Security Services (NSS), Gen. Akol Koor Kuc on Monday in Juba.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was on this day when we made a decision and abandoned the failed leadership of Gen. Paul Malong Awan and opted to join peace under the auspices of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU),\u201d the group said in a statement seen by Sudans Post.<\/p>\n

They claimed to be for peace and national reconciliation which they believe can guide the country to a new political dispensation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision was prompted by the fact that we understand the need to take bold decisions, in the interest of peace and national reconciliation that can guide the country to a new political dispensation and a permanent constitutional order.\u201d<\/p>\n

They said there is \u201cno military solution\u201d to the crisis in South Sudan, and that sustainable peace can be achieved through dialogue.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all need to support peace by shunning violence in all its forms and by choosing peaceful means to address our grievances whenever they arise.\u201d<\/p>\n

The SSUF\/A-Nairobi Declaration was formed on January 28, 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya after oustering General Malong from the leadership of the movement.<\/p>\n

The group is a break-away faction from SSUF\/A led by ex-army chief, Paul Malong Awan.<\/p>\n

The over 10 former SSUF\/A Malong members from Upper Nile, Bahr El Ghazal, and Equatoria regions signed a new declaration as members of the SSUF\/A Nairobi Declaration.<\/p>\n
