Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Mabek Nyok, the Director-General of Education of Ruweng Administrative Area, affirmed the government\u2019s commitment to ensuring quality education in the area.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Mabek said they recently held a conference in which the officials discussed the importance of promoting girl child education in Ruweng.<\/p>\n

Nyok emphasized that the conference aimed to prepare for the upcoming year, 2024, ensuring that all children in Ruweng Administrative Area enrol in various schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe focused on girl child education, a crucial aspect in our community. As we approach the New Year, starting in February, it requires us to prepare, focus, and consolidate our ideas. Our goal is to collaborate beyond the Ministry of General Education to ensure the enrolment of every child and boost learner participation in Ruweng Administrative Area,\u201d Nyok explained.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cWe aim to actively engage our community, the government of Ruweng Administrative Area, and all stakeholders supporting education, whether directly or indirectly. Our focus is on ensuring that education attains the required quality according to the standard performance of the learners.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nyok highlighted that they are actively working to create a conducive learning environment for locals, returnees, and refugees who fled violence in Sudan. \u201cOur goal is to establish learning spaces within our schools that align with the provisions and policies of the national ministry, promoting inclusiveness, and accommodating the participation of refugees, particularly the Nuba-Mountain communities hosted in Ruweng,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that the Ruweng Administrative Area has encountered challenges, ranking second to last in the South Sudan national examination results for the past two consecutive years.<\/p>\n

\u201cSimilar to other states or administrative areas in South Sudan, we face challenges such as low learner attendance, limited community involvement in the education process, and a low passing rate in our national examinations. Over the past two years, Ruweng Administrative Area has consistently ranked second to last in the national examinations,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

He further stated that the Ruweng government will prioritize capacity-building training for teachers in both primary and secondary schools. He highlighted that many teachers follow Arabic patterns, which, in his view, contributes to poor student performance due to inadequate teaching of the syllabus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe forum aimed to create educational guidelines and policies, referred to as local policies and programs, specifically tailored for the Ruweng Administrative Area. It also sought to define how the community can actively participate in the policy implementation process,\u201d he amplified.<\/p>\n
