Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Authorities in South Darfur State\u2019s capital Nyala said they managed to restore the water stations at Kerari and Al Feniya neighborhoods on Saturday after they had been inoperable for the last nine months due to the ongoing war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).<\/p>\n

Mohammed Al-Mustafa Fadul, the director of the State Water Authority, told Radio Tamazuj over the weekend that the two stations serve the neighborhoods of Kerari, Al-Faniya, the Turkish Hospital, Al-Wadi neighborhood, and the eastern part of the Texas neighborhood, in addition to the power generation station.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is considered the first phase of operation, and in the second phase, the main station that serves Nyala North locality will be operationalized, including works at the Majok station, which covers the city’s eastern neighborhoods with water services,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that all city stations will return to service within the next 15 days.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Amal Abdel Hafeez, a Nyala resident, expressed her happiness at the resumption of water supply.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday (Saturday), we are happy with the return of the water line and we also hope for the return of the communications and electricity networks,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Another Nyala resident, Maya Mahmoud, said before the resumption of water supply, they were buying water for be 1,000 and 2,000 pounds.<\/p>\n

The Rapid Support Forces Advisor for Civil Affairs, Al-Nazir Mohammed, said they aim to help citizens with health, education, and the provision of water and electricity, and we will continue to provide all services to the people of the state.<\/p>\n
