Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The leaders from the greater Bahr el Ghazal region have pledged to end inter-communal violence while appealing to the communities to prioritize peace.<\/p>\n

The leaders announced at a peace rally conducted at Kuacjok Freedom Square on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The peace rally was organized by the Governor of Warrap State, Kuol Mour Mour.<\/p>\n

The unified message underscores the critical need for cooperation and reconciliation in the region to pave the way for a more stable and harmonious future.<\/p>\n

While addressing the gathering, the governor of Warrap state, Hon: Kuol Muor Muor urged those fighting to lay down their guns.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m saying that you people put your guns down and join us for peace, so we work for development, there is no development, and when there is no peace no development, and if there is no peace no election,\u201d said Governor Muor.<\/p>\n

Hon. Tong Akeen Ngor, the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State has echoed Governor Mour Mour\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe as the sons of Bahr-elGazahl come to stand with the governor of Warrap state, so that until peace prevails in the state, and we need peace to prevail in all Bahr-el Gazhal in general, like what happened in Lakes state, we need it also to happen in Warrap State,\u201d Governor Tong said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t want the fight to occur between Western Bahr el Ghazal and Warrap state, we don\u2019t want fighting people of Kwac and the people of Gogrial, we don\u2019t want the fight between Twic and Ngok, we are all from Bahr-el Ggazhal and we are South Sudanese, we want our country to have stability and peace,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Daniel Awet Akot, who is the 1st Deputy Chairperson of the SPLM Political Bureau said the governors have expressed commitment to finding the root causes of the communal conflicts to ensure peace in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe governors of the four States of Bahr el Ghazal were all here to register support, and willingness to work together such that we solve all these community conflicts and bring peace,\u201d said Daniel Awet.<\/p>\n

Most of the conflicts in the greater Bahr el Ghazal region have been rooted in land disputes, revenge killings and cattle thefts.<\/p>\n
