Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The head of operations at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Complex at Nyala Teaching Hospital in South Darfur State, Moaza Abakar Dhaw Al-Bait, said they resumed work on Sunday.<\/p>\n

He revealed the department\u2019s readiness to carry out natural births, cesarean sections, and clinical hospitalization services.<\/p>\n

Nyala Teaching Hospital stopped working on 5 October last year due to the ongoing war between the army and the Rapid Support Force (RSF).<\/p>\n

During an interview with Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, Moaza explained that an evaluation of readiness was done and broken equipment repaired.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of the broken devices were reviewed and maintained by the medical engineering unit,\u201d she explained. \u201cThe shortcomings of medical equipment that the complex lost were sorted and medical consumables were provided by some doctors and the medical administration of the Rapid Support Forces.\u201d<\/p>\n

The head of the anesthesia department at Nyala Teaching Hospital, Sabah Al-Sadiq, said that with the efforts of various initiatives from citizens and staff, the department is ready to resume work.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe department needs more anesthesia drugs. The available quantity is small. We are starting to work with the quantity available now, but after a month or two it will run out. We call on all relevant parties to provide more anesthesia drugs,\u201d he stressed. \u201cWe have undertaken the process of replacing other hospital departments to operate the department and soon, it will need patient monitoring devices and anesthesia machines to ensure continuity of work.\u201d<\/p>\n
