Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The MTN company has reinstated telecommunication services in Fangak County, Jonglei State, marking the first time since 2013, amidst the civil war outbreak in the county.<\/p>\n

Fangak County Commissioner, Biel Boutrus Biel, told Radio Tamazuj Wednesday that the restoration of the mobile communication network on December 30 serves as a New Year’s gift, reconnecting the county to the global communication network.<\/p>\n

Biel highlighted, \u201cThe MTN network was restored in New Fangak Town on December 30. Its coverage extends to areas that are a 6-hour walk away from the town, including Barbuoy Payam and parts of the neighboring Pigi County. Technicians are also actively working to fix the network in Old Fangak, ensuring complete coverage across the entire county.\u201d<\/p>\n

The county commissioner commended the MTN mobile operator for expanding its services to Fangak, emphasizing its role in facilitating government coordination and keeping citizens connected.<\/p>\n

Samuel Kangac, a Fangak resident and head of the local business community, expressed relief at being connected to the rest of the world. He noted the positive impact on personal connections and highlighted the benefits for the business community, stating, \u201cThis will assist us in running online businesses and conducting transactions through MTN mobile money.\u201d<\/p>\n

The civil war in South Sudan disrupted vital infrastructure, including the telecommunication network in parts of Fangak County. In July, residents and authorities raised concerns about the lack of communication and called for its restoration.<\/p>\n
