Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The spokesperson of the South Sudan People\u2019s Defense Forces (SSPDF), Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai, urged the citizens to stop whining and cooperate with the SSPDF in the ongoing house to house search.<\/p>\n This came after the SSPDF carried out a house-house search for harmful weapons in the Gumbo residential area yesterday.<\/p>\n In an interview with The City Review, Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai said people should not complain because the SSPDF is doing the right thing.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople should complain if they (SSPDF) are doing other things, but if they (SSPDF) made it very clear that they are searching for illegal weapons and other harmful instruments, then they are doing the right things because they want the citizens to remain safe wherever they are,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Lul reiterated that since the forces are not involved in stealing the property of the citizens, there should be no complaint.<\/p>\n \u201cIf they stole and their items were taken, then it would be a good reason for them to complain,\u201d Lul said.<\/p>\n Also, he said they have increased the number of SSPDF in the streets to provide a very conducive environment during the festive season.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a joint security force; if you were observing, you would see the presence of SSPDF, police, national security, and other forces; it is a joint operation.\u201d<\/p>\n However, some residents in the Gumbo have complained about the approach of some forces.<\/p>\n They said the operation was not bad, but the approach of some of the forces went overboard.<\/p>\n One resident from Gumbo who spoke to The City Review anonymously, said a group of SSPDF entered his compound without introducing themselves or what they were looking for.<\/p>\n The person said he was inside the room sleeping when he heard someone knocking on his door.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I came out I found a soldier standing at the door from outside and he asked whether that was my house,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n \u201cI replied to him yes, and then he told me to get inside so we entered inside and he started searching the house for about one minute and walked out.\u201d<\/p>\n The source said he was so scared because he did not know what the soldier was looking for<\/p>\n The person said the soldier should have first introduced himself before ordering him to get inside.<\/p>\n South Sudan has made a significant steps in its disarmament, which forms part of peace and reconciliation.
