Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The mayor of Juba City Council in Central Equatoria State on Wednesday pledged to keep the city clean and green.<\/p>\n

Mayor Flora Gabriel made this promise during Wednesday\u2019s meeting with Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish everybody in the city to cooperate with us because we want all quarter councils to cooperate with us because cleaning is not our duty alone as City Council, but citizens have to cooperate with us so that we take all the waste and we are sure this year we will make Juba clean,\u201d Gabriel told reporters in Juba on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Ms. Gabriel said the Juba Council will work together with companies to keep the city clean and green.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know these days; we are going to open internal roads within Juba city and that is why we decided to share it with the governor and he has given us a way forward for our activities and functions as Juba City Council.\u201d<\/p>\n

Derick Derickson, press secretary in the office of Central Equatoria Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony, said the governor directed the administration of Juba City Council to prioritize cleaning the city and the roads.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe governor directed the leadership of City Council to redouble their efforts in garbage collection as well as cleanness of Juba to make sure that all roads within and around Juba are all clean,\u201d Derickson said.<\/p>\n

Derickson called on Juba residents to participate in a clean-up of the city exercise.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernor also directed the leadership of Juba City Council to redouble their efforts in resource mobilization to finance government programs like expansion of initiative of the road network within the city.\u201d<\/p>\n
