Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The United States, United Kingdom and Norway said they are seeking answers on when, how and where the transitional government plans to deploy the remaining Necessary Unified Force.<\/p>\n

The Western nations said they also wish to know about the command structure of the deployed force.<\/p>\n

Troika stated that the South Sudanese people deserve a professional, politically neutral security sector to provide a safe process.<\/p>\n

In a joint statement, addressed to CTSAM-MV chairperson on Thursday, the observers called upon the transitional government to urgently \u201cturn words into action\u201d in the coming months ahead.<\/p>\n

Troika also reiterated support to the South Sudanese people, which \u201cis based on our conviction that they deserve peace, human rights, democracy, and a government that is accountable to them and responsive to their needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

The group expressed disappointment towards the failure to hold regular meetings by the Ceasefire monitoring and verification body, CTSAMVM.<\/p>\n

The alliance complained about CTSAM-VM\u2019s irregular Thursday Board meeting is exactly one year since it was last held last year.<\/p>\n

It is also over 6 months since the last extraordinary board meeting occurred in July 2023.<\/p>\n

However, the Western allies welcome the leadership of IGAD, the chairs of the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commissioner, R-JMEC, and CTSAMVM, in resolving what it termed as unnecessary and overly bureaucratic challenges.<\/p>\n

They emphasized that \u201cCTSAMVM is integral to reform of the security sector, which also explains their support to ensure it operates effectively in line with its mandate.\u201d<\/p>\n
