Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>South Sudan Medical Council said Wednesday it has closed down Prime Hospital and Saving Life for Diagnostic, Medical Consultation and Endemic Disease Clinic over alleged safety concerns.<\/p>\n

Dr. Rose Ajak Costa, the chairperson of the medical council disclosed that the facilities have failed to adhere to standard health practices.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe closed two facilities and one activity. Of the two facilities that we have closed; one is Prime Hospital. It\u2019s here in Juba and there are communications on that, and our legal advisor which is the legal counsel of the medical council is taking part in it,\u201d the official said during a talk show on Eye Radio.<\/p>\n

Also last week, the General Medical Council closed down a medical camp that was set up at Freedom International Hospital in Juda citing non-compliance with regulations.<\/p>\n

The medical camp had been initially announced by the visiting medical team from the British Dubai Hospital, affiliated with Freedom International Hospital.<\/p>\n

Dr. Garang Dakjur Lueth, Chairperson of Practice Control Committee of the council also said another health facility that has been forced to shut is Saving Life for Diagnostic, Medical Consultation and Endemic Disease Clinic located in Juba\u2019s Munuki suburb.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe paperwork is out, and we have made it public the way we are talking, but we can say the names of the facilities to safeguard the safety of our citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Medical Council licenses medical doctors, dentists, and pharmacists to make sure they are verified and proven capable in their field of qualification before allowing them to work in the country.<\/p>\n

The Council also regulates the medical practice among private and government facilities to make sure it is up to the standard.<\/p>\n
