Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations of South Sudan United Front\/Army (SSUF\/A) led by former South Sudan army chief General Paul Malong Awan has declared his intention to resign from the rebel group over what he said are personal reasons.<\/p>\n

In a statement seen by Sudans Post, Maj. Gen. Agany Deng Bak, said he resigned with no regret and that he won\u2019t enumerate reasons behind his resignation other than referring to it as \u2018personal\u2019 because he don\u2019t want to do so per now as differences with Malong have been reported in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease, accept this letter as a formal notice of my resignation from my position as deputy chief of staff for operation due to my personal reasons which I may not wish to disclose per now,\u201d it said in the statement dated November 28 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy last day will be today 28th\/Nov\/2021 as I decided to resigned from my position with no regret,\u201d the top rebel commander added.<\/p>\n

He further thanked Malong for trusting him for the role.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to use this opportunity to thanks all the members of SSUF\/A for the cooperation and I am so grateful to the chairman for the trust he bestowed upon me. Therefore, I wish SSUF\/A success for the benefit of South Sudanese,\u201d Gen Agany added.<\/p>\n

He was appointed by General Malong, a former South Sudan army chief who established the group in April 2018 in Kenya after fleeing South Sudan following months of detention.<\/p>\n
