Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning in South Sudan\u2019s Northern Bahr el Ghazal State on Friday conducted a one-day training workshop in Aweil town to draft the state budget for the 2023\/2024 fiscal year.<\/p>\n

Government institutions are required to submit their plans, including budgets, to the State Council of Ministers who will debate and pass it to the Northern Bahr el Ghazal Legislative Assembly for final endorsement.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj last Friday, John Karlo Dut, the Director-General for the Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Ministry of Finance, said planning and budgeting allows the government to deliver services to the local population.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that budgeting is an integral part of the government because, without the plans and budgeting, the government will not implement its commitment towards service delivery at its institutions or to citizens,\u201d said Karlo. \u201cThere are a lot of budgetary items and every plan has its budget and if the budget is passed, it means that wages for civil servants and constitutional post holders, office operations, and development funds are implemented successfully.\u201d<\/p>\n

Joseph Majok Wek, an employee of the state agriculture ministry, said that they acquired new skills during the workshop which will increase their capacity in budget development.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a fruitful and interesting workshop for all of us because it gave us clues and skills on how we can go about the planning and budgeting in our respective institutions,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The government-funded workshop was attended by over 60 director-generals, planning and budgeting officers, county executive directors, and support staff from all government line institutions across Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.<\/p>\n
