Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The commissioner of Rubkona County in Unity State on Monday said Zain South Sudan, a mobile communications and information technology services provider, started operating in Rotriak Payam in the far north of the county on Monday.<\/p>\n

Kelemen Jul Dador told Radio Tamazju that the population estimated to be over 1,500,000 people are overjoyed because it is the first for mobile telecommunications services to reach their area. He said the communication network would aid his administration contain insecurity.<\/p>\n

\u201cZain communication network was installed in Rotriak and we are grateful to the company. The community members are delighted and can now communicate with their loved ones from all over. We have had it in plan since 2021,\u201d he explained. \u201cThe network will improve security and boost livelihoods and entrepreneurship. Unity State Governor Joseph Manyuilt Wejang will tomorrow (Tuesday) officially launch the Zain network. It has been working since morning and people are communicating with their relatives in different areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Commissioner Jul added: \u201cThe Zain and MTN telephone networks will help the government maintain security because people can now report any criminal activities or community conflicts by calling security organs and local authorities.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said it will ease commerce as local traders can now communicate with suppliers in Sudan and Juba. He also highlighted that there is a need for communication networks along the borders of Rubkona County, Ruweng Administrative Area, and Sudan to control cattle raiding.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Gatwich Wal who reports for South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) in Unity State and is a resident of Rotriak Payam, said he is sure that there will be a massive turnout for the launch of Zain\u2019s operations in the area on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cZain communication network nowadays helps connect families, however, the network is still poor in some areas,\u201d he said. \u201cI appreciate Zain for providing the service because you can connect with friends and relatives in Southern Leer, Mayiandit, Panyijiar, Koch, and beyond through messages and calls.\u201d<\/p>\n
