Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Malakal Airport in Upper Nile State has resumed operations following a plane crash last Friday.<\/p>\n

Authorities reported a two-day suspension of air traffic at the airport after a passenger plane skidded off the runway.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Acting Director of Malakal Airport, Paul Majok, said: \u201cAir traffic resumed since Saturday, and the wreckage of the plane has been removed from the runway, restoring normal air traffic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Describing the incident, Majok stated, \u201cThe plane crashed and stopped at halfway of the runway, and it has been removed.\u201d He credited the engineering units of the United Nations mission in Malakal for their significant contribution, using heavy machinery to clear the wreckage.<\/p>\n

Majok disclosed that local measures have been implemented in response to the incident while awaiting a committee from the Civil Aviation Authority to investigate the underlying causes.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cPending the arrival of the investigation committee, we have taken necessary actions locally.\u201d<\/p>\n
