Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Government of South Sudan last week received a consignment of humanitarian aid from the Arab Republic of Egypt as an implementation of a decision by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to support the South Sudanese affected by floods.<\/p>\n

A part of the aid which was channeled through the Egyptian Development Agency will also support Sudanese refugees who fled to South Sudan due to the ongoing war in Sudan between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.<\/p>\n

Albino Akol Atak, the South Sudan Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, confirmed receipt of the relief items in response to the appeal of the people of South Sudan and the Egyptian government. He said the aid included food and medicine.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe aid will go to flood victims and Sudanese refugees in South Sudan whose number is now over 6,000,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Minister Akol thanked the people of and the Egyptian government for their support and called on the international community to also support the Government of South Sudan in sheltering those affected by the floods and the Sudanese refugees in South Sudan.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Juba, Moataz Abdel Gadir, said that the humanitarian aid was provided by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in response to an appeal by the Government of South Sudan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe aid is estimated at 10,000 kilograms of medical and food supplies,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
