Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>All health facilities in Jonglei State have been connected to wireless internet services, a senior state health official has disclosed.<\/p>\n

Chot Kueth Kulang, Director General of the State Ministry of Health, told Radio Tamazuj Monday that the initiative, supported by UNICEF, aims to enhance coordination and monitoring of health activities, especially in areas that are hard to reach due to poor telecommunication networks.<\/p>\n

He said the aggressive roll out, seeks to improve communication and service delivery in all health departments in the nine counties in Jonglei State.<\/p>\n

Chot pointed out that the wireless internet project was part of the ministry’s efforts to strengthen the health system and enhance the quality of care for Jonglei residents.<\/p>\n

He said the ministry had trained and built the capacity of 113 health workers on their roles and responsibilities since last year, hence the wireless internet would enable them to access online resources, share information, and coordinate with other health facilities and partners.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know communication is very important; we have managed to install internet in the offices of county health directors. Now we are communicating with them through email communication,\u201d Chot stated.<\/p>\n

Chot added that the initiative will also facilitate the delivery of health supplies and equipment, as well as the referral and evacuation of patients in emergency situations.<\/p>\n

The beneficiary health facilities are in Bor South, Twic East, Duk, Pibor, Akobo, Nyirol, Uror, Ayod and Fangak.<\/p>\n

Chot hailed UNICEF for its support and partnership, and urged the county health departments to make good use of the wireless internet connection to improve service delivery.<\/p>\n
