Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Acting Director General for Technical Operations for the National Bureau of Standards has vowed to take tough measures against some water factories.<\/p>\n

This came after the National Bureau of Standards found some of the facilities have not met the quality standards following an inspection last month.<\/p>\n

The Bureau of Standards said in a post on its Facebook page on Wednesday that it convened a meeting in Juba town on Monday, bringing together representatives from various water factories and the manufacturing association.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, a team from the institution presented the findings of the recent inspection campaign conducted in January this year.<\/p>\n

The SSNBS did not mention factories that have failed to meet the required standards.<\/p>\n

However. reacting to the report, Mrs. Gloria N. Joseph Lasu, the Acting Director General for Technical Operations informed the manufacturing Associations that they will take stringent measures against some water factories that have not met the standards until corrective actions are in place.<\/p>\n

For her part, Neima Samson Sabit, Director for Certification and Export, \u201cunderscored the importance of adhering to good hygiene practices (GHP), good manufacturing practice (GMP), and hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP).<\/p>\n

She also \u201cencourages the manufacturers for internal audit and complying with standards required.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Araya Hiskas from Aqua Fontana appreciated the management of the Bureau of Standards and called for a candid discussion on the findings from the factories.<\/p>\n

He encouraged all the companies to ensure that they cooperate with the inspectors to ensure the provision of safe drinking water.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Bureau of Standards, Dr. Kuorwel Kuai Kuorwel \u201cinformed the water companies that the Bureau of Standards has started product certification.\u201d<\/p>\n
