Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Over five thousand people have been displaced following the recent skirmishes between SSPDF and NAS forces in Wonduruba Administrative Payam, Juba County, according to the area coordinator.<\/p>\n

Towongo Steven Michael revealed this after meeting Central Equatorial state Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony in Juba on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Steven told the press unit in the office of the governor that the abut 5, 400 displaced persons are stranded in government facilities and are lacking food and shelter.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, around 5400 individuals are displaced, they lack food and shelter and are stranded in the government facilities and the rain is coming so, this also we presented it to H.E and they responded well, he said.<\/p>\n

He describes NAS activities in the area as discouraging.<\/p>\n

\u201cRegarding the threats from the NAS rebel of course we really discouraged by what happened because it has led to big displacement of people,\u201d adding that \u201cI\u2019m sure we shall be able to get some reliefs support from AAC which we are glad about all these.\u201d<\/p>\n

A week ago, Lainya County Commissioner Emmanuel Khamis Richard told Eye Radio that clashes between SSDPF and NAS forces had displaced over 79 families to the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were clashes between the NAS rebels and government soldiers in the Moji area of Wonduruba Administrative Payam, and it\u2019s very unfortunate at a time our people need peace. It\u2019s the responsibility of the parties to the conflict to protect our civilians.<\/p>\n

According to Khamis, \u201cThe situation is dire,\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe already have 79 families that have already arrived here and as I went to security tour, I found a lot of women, children and women and their family coming.\u201d<\/p>\n

He similarly appealed to aid organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to the displaced persons.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have already given the list that we have to support the vulnerable people and I belief that with this appeal we will be able to have partners that will support the people who have been running from the conflict.<\/p>\n

The press unit has reported that Governor Emmanuel Adil urged Wonduruba Coordinator and the Bishop of area Episcopal Church Diocese Mathew Taban \u201cto double their efforts to restoring total security stabilization in the area.<\/p>\n
