Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The authorities of the Juba City Council and the team from the World Bank yesterday conducted a feasibility study on the state of the city\u2019s urbanisation.<\/p>\n The delegates toured all the borders of the council within Juba County.<\/p>\n Addressing the journalists on Friday, the mayor of Juba City Council, Flora Gabriel, said the tour marked the beginning of the implementation of the urbanisation project in the city.<\/p>\n \u201cToday, we are checking on our city and the boundaries between the city council and Juba County. We have moved around the city council, from the Juba block to the Munuki block,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cWith the urbanisation, we wanted to see the town and how we were going to develop. This is our second consecutive engagement. We met at the beginning of the week, and we are here today to see the places that need work.\u201d<\/p>\n According to Flora, the boundary between Juba City Council and Juba County has the rapid urbanisation dynamics that the city is facing.<\/p>\n She added that the city is expanding outward, and that comes with challenges in service delivery and infrastructure development.<\/p>\n Flora said the site visits helped the city council authority check some of the challenges and potential investment opportunities for the government to collaborate with the World Bank.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are here this week to conduct a study, an urbanisation review, to identify some of these challenges and opportunities; ultimately. You know, this should lead to an investment project focused on urban areas.\u201d<\/p>\n Flora highlighted that it is a first engagement where authorities collect the evidence and the data, which both the World Bank and City Council need to understand before starting the investments.<\/p>\n Earlier this week, the representative of the World Bank, Carlos Mejia, said that the World Bank had officially started the implementation of the South Sudan Urbanisation Review.<\/p>\n Mejia noted that they would study the main challenges facing urbanisation in the different cities across the country.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are going to structure this report around four major pillars.
