Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM \u2013IO) has called for the full implementation of the electoral prerequisites before the actual exercise.<\/p>\n

Addressing the media conference at the SPLM \u2013IO Secretariat, the Deputy Chairman of SPLM-IO, Oyet Nathaniel, said election without prerequisites would be an exercise in futility.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur position regarding elections is very clear, elections should take place after implementing the prerequisite tasks, without prerequisites, we will not reach election,\u201d Oyet said.<\/p>\n

Oyet added that the prerequisites are important for the election because they will define the credibility of the electoral results.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe prerequisites are very key for you to achieve elections, election is not an answer to the problem of South Sudanese,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n

The SPLM-IO deputy leader, who is also the first deputy speaker at the National Assembly, faulted parties that are backing the polls without the enabling tasks that would guarantee its credibility and transparency.<\/p>\n

\u201c You know those who say you hold elections without implementing a peace agreement, I am sure you read the position of other parties, SSOA OPP and SPLM \u2013IG, they are insensitive to the prevailing circumstance of the country,\u201d Oyet argued.<\/p>\n

\u201c I pity our counterparts in other opposition parties, why because we also understand that probably they know limited stalk in what is going for instance in the security arrangement.\u201d<\/p>\n

The SPLM, SSOA and some parties in OPP have backed the conduct of election although there are pending tasks.<\/p>\n

Some of the pending tasks include the making a permanent constitution, deployment of the necessary unified forces, delimitation of boundaries, national poluation census and the repatriation of refugees for their eventual resettlement in the country.<\/p>\n

The SPLM has called for the implementation of some of these tasks after the election.<\/p>\n
