Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>Authorities in South Sudan\u2019s Central Equatoria State are working with butchers to stabilize beef prices in the market, an official said on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe visited markets in Juba to understand the problems facing butchers, we visited Suk-Libya, Jebel and Konyo-konyo markets. We have challenges especially on beef prices which have increased,\u201d the state Animal Resources, Fisheries and Tourism minister, Alex Lotief Elia told reporters in Juba.<\/p>\n

The minister, who held a market tour, said they will persuade livestock traders to reduce beef prices.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not want the price for beef to be very high because we have a lot of livestock, we want to have stability in beef prices,\u201d stressed Lotief.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, there is a plan to establish a beef market in the state.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the Ministry of Animal Resources, we have formed a steering committee to re-organize the butchers, both foreigners and nationals, we want to lower the prices of beef in the markets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Juba City Council mayor, Flora Gabriel Modi urged butchers to maintain good hygiene.<\/p>\n
