Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>A Juba-based tour and travel company is seeking to have the account of South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) blocked over unpaid dues.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Easy Travel and Tours Limited Company asked Juba County Court to put a caveat on SSFA\u2019s account until the case against it has been disposed.<\/p>\n

The lawyer representing the company, Peter Dau Akolthon, said failure to block the bank account would give the defendant leeway to withdraw all the money.<\/p>\n

The two parties are contesting over money owed to Easy Travel and Tours Limited when it booked air tickets for Almerrelhk FC team to Zambia and tickets for Amarat FC to Tunisia on 22 November 2018 and 8 August, 2019 respectively.<\/p>\n

Easy Travel and Tour Company filed the case against SSFA in October last year.<\/p>\n

Akolthon said Easy Travel and Tour Limited paid for the air tickets on behalf SSFA.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bills have accumulated and we tried to engage them (SSFA) peacefully to pay before coming to court, we made a demand notice asking South Sudan Football Association to honor the agreement to make sure they pay the debt to my client but to no avail,\u201d he told court.<\/p>\n

The lawyer said the agreement, which require the tour and travel company to facilitate travels for staff, coaches and SSFA players, ran from late 2017 till 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe SSFA has accepted the bill directly meant for their staff, yet there is a commitment and a guarantee letter from the same SSFA informing Easy Travel in the event that clubs fail to submit their payment to them then they are going to take responsibility,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Akolthon revealed that the football body owes his client a total of USD 126,546.<\/p>\n

He, however, said SSFA\u2019s delay to pay his client\u2019s money prompted legal action.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the next court hearing has been scheduled for March 21, 2024.<\/p>\n
