Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The newly appointed commissioner of Western Equatoria State\u2019s Nzara County, Lino Kuku on Monday pledged to improve security and fight tribalism.<\/p>\n

Kuku who replaced former commissioner Richard Zizi, was speaking at a rally to welcome him to the county.<\/p>\n

The new commissioner who was accompanied by Governor Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba, promised to ensure that the county\u2019s citizens and their property are protected. He also vowed to fight tribalism and corruption.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am going to work in Nzara County according to the instructions of the government system and this will be based on the demand of the citizens,\u201d he said. \u201cI have a few action points. I do not want tribalism and secondly, I need Nzara to be in peace, thirdly, I need the security of Nzara to be tight and do not want to hear that someone has been killed or wounded.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kuku added: \u201cFinally, I open the civic and political space for all the political parties in Nzara.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his part, Governor Futuyo advised Commissioner Kuku to push the citizens to focus on agriculture and work to improve the education and health sectors.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, thousands of the Nzara Citizens who gathered to welcome the new commissioner expressed happiness at his arrival.<\/p>\n

Hellen Joseph Sakondo, a resident of Nzara, said, she is happy to see the new commissioner because they have stayed for long without a leader.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe the women of Nzara are so excited to see our new commissioner because we have stayed for 1 year and 3 months without a commissioner and today it is the privilege to be with the new commissioner,\u201d she said. \u201cThe women are suffering because they cannot get clean water due to the few water sources we have and we need the commissioner to support women and create more water points.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ramadan John Uko Sasa, a local chief in Nzara, said the new county commissioner should work for all, deliver services, and not segregate the people.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are happy to see a new commissioner and we will work together with him without segregation of political parties,\u201d he stated. \u201cThe commissioner belongs to the nation and he is not for SPLM-IO, SPLM Party, or SSOA. So, my message is that he has to be for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lino Kuku was appointed last month on the SPLM-IO ticket by President Salva Kiir, replacing Richard Zizi.<\/p>\n
