Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Somali Business Community in South Sudan have agreed to reduce fuel price from 2,200 to 2,000 pounds per a liter, in a meeting with the Managing Director of the Nile Petroleum Corporation on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

NilePet boss, Engineer Bernard Amour and the representative of the Somali community, who own fuel stations in Juba, met and the later agreed to decrease the price from 2,200 to 2,000 pounds for one week, starting Wednesday, March 6.<\/p>\n

The parties also agreed to continue discussions on the volatile fuel prices caused by the current depreciation of the South Sudanese currency.<\/p>\n

The decision was made after fuel station owners increased the pricing per liter of fuel, sending transport fares up and leaving many Juba residents unable to afford public buses.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the economic bloc, headed by President Salva Kiir, held a meeting in which it decided to supply the country with enough fuel and sell it at a subsidized price to citizens in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

The bloc also agreed to import food supplies and sell them to citizens at a subsidized price.<\/p>\n

According to the government, these measures aim to improve the deteriorating economic situation and reduce the cost of living for citizens.<\/p>\n
