Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Wealth in Sudan’s East Darfur State has provided a quantity of sera veterinary medicine to treat livestock diseases in the neighbouring West Kordofan State.<\/p>\n

The consignment was received by local veterinarians, traders, and livestock breeders.<\/p>\n

Dr Taher Breima, a veterinarian, confirmed on Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that they received the drugs from East Darfur but added that it remains insufficient to deal with the situation on the ground.<\/p>\n

He said they are currently dealing with the spread of an epidemic known as the “Sheep and Goat Plague”, which has led to the deaths of goats and sheep in parts of West Kordofan State.<\/p>\n

The disease, which affects sheep and goats, causes diarrhoea and is treated with a drug known as (BBR), which is unavailable in all areas of West Kordofan State.<\/p>\n

He confirmed the arrival of a delegation from Gubaysh in East Darfur to meet with the Animal Health Department to support the treatment.<\/p>\n
