This is according to the statement made by the Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Lily Adhieu Martin on International Women\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Kiir has directed the Ministry of Health and concerned development partners to double their efforts to reduce maternal mortality rate during childbirth as well as eradicate fistula,\u201d stated a statement from the Office of the President.<\/p>\n

The statement stated that President Kiir acknowledges the pivotal role of women in the nation\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

President Salve Kiir emphasizes the need for gender equality and women\u2019s rights as South Sudan celebrates Women\u2019s Day under the theme Invest in women; accelerate progress.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the government has implemented various policies to empower women, ensuring their representation in decision-making processes to combat discrimination.<\/p>\n

It states the need for free primary and secondary education policies that aim to provide equal access, especially for young girls.<\/p>\n
