Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretariat of Education in Nuba Mountains in Sudan\u2019s South Kordofan State received the results of the 2023\/24 Primary Leaving Examinations.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press on Saturday, the Secretary for Education in Nuba Mountains, Daniel Ibrahim Kuku, said they registered 2778 in 2023 but that 2732, 1409 male and 1322 female, managed to sit the examinations.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore than 40 pupils did not manage to reach the examination centers due to personal issues and sickness. 2376 pupils who passed the national exams with good grades which makes the Nuba Mountains people very happy,\u201d he said. \u201cHowever, 356 failed the exams which is 13 percent. 87 percent passed the exams. We are happy with these results.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ibrahim thanked Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), county education coordinators, NGOs, teachers, and parents for the great support they gave the pupils during the examinations<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people of Nuba Mountains will be free of illiteracy in the near,\u201d Ibrahim stated.<\/p>\n

For his part, the director in charge of primary education, Kuku Idris, thanked his colleagues at the secretariat, parents, and the teachers for the good performance of the pupils.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were a lot of challenges and it was not easy to get water, some had no classroom furniture while others were sleeping on the ground but they were able to pass,\u201d he said. \u201cThe education secretariat in Nuba Mountains has no other support other than from the community. We get school fees and food contributions from the parents.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI encouraged the communities to support education because it is our collective responsibility so all of us must stand together,\u201d Idris added.<\/p>\n

He also encouraged those who did not pass the exam to repeat class eight.<\/p>\n
