Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) donated 100 tonnes of food items to internally displaced persons in Nyin-Anyar in Lado Payam on Saturday.<\/p>\n The donation came after the IDPs appealed to the government to provide them with water, schools, and health facilities last month.<\/p>\n In a statement to the media, the chairperson of the RRC, Peter Kulang, stated that the government had listened to the challenges facing the IDPs in the country and had come to the rescue through the provision of food and non-food items.<\/p>\n \u201cSo far, we managed to bring 100 tonnes of food items, which include rice, beans, and oil, and none of the food items, about 1,500, which include tenths, to the IDPs and returnees,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cAbout 5,000 returnees and IDPs who are here to benefit from the food and none of the food items, the government is here to prevent more returnees and IDPs from coming here in the camp.\u201d<\/p>\n According to Kulang, the government will be visiting the centres hosting IDPs and returnees to assess their needs.<\/p>\n He said the Nyin-Anyar centre in Lado Payam was facing an acute shortage of drinking water, which the RRC would seek to provide after getting permission from Central Equatoria State.
