Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Prime Minister of the Azande Kingdom is calling for inclusion of his own, the Chollo and Anyuak empires in the ongoing permanent constitution-making process.<\/p>\n

Prince Tadeo Mario Sasa said the kingdoms and traditional authorities are the custodians of cultures, and their views and inputs should be included in the constitution.<\/p>\n

According to Prince Tadeo, while the government engages in the search of lasting peace, it should consider the views of the Kingdoms and traditional chiefdoms.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Eye Radio\u2019s Dawn Show on Tuesday, Tadeo urged President Salva Kiir to consider the appeal.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is very important as the country now goes for constitutional review, it is very important to have the Kingdoms and the traditional authority members in that constitution making process,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is because they can observe the risks that are there, or things that will not help the community to grow, things that will hinder the culture promotion.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Reconstituted National Constitutional Review Commission was tasked by President Kiir, in December 2023, to expedite work on drafting the country\u2019s new permanent constitution, ahead of the general elections.<\/p>\n

The Revitalized Peace Agreement provides for the making of a permanent constitution to guide the electoral and elections process.<\/p>\n

According to the agreement, South Sudanese are expected to go to polls in December of next year, but the constitution is yet to be made with about nine months left.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you concentrate on political membership, those people have interests, they are putting the interest of their party about any other thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the tradition authority and the Kingdoms are there, they will look for interest of people of South Sudan, so that this constitution can be later on accepted by people.\u201d<\/p>\n
