Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>An airstrike in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, on Monday killed at least nine people, including three children, eyewitnesses said, as fighting continued between rival forces seeking to control the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj at the scene of the attack, eyewitnesses told Radio Tamazuj correspondent that the Sudanese army aircraft dropped several bombs in the Al-Wefaq neighbourhood of El Faher town, killing nine civilians, including three children and wounding nine others.<\/p>\n

Abdul Rahman Ali, the uncle of one of the deceased, Samia Ibrahim, said a child had also gone missing after the incident. He pointed out that at least ten houses were burned to ashes in Al-Wifaq neighbourhoods, according to a preliminary report.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe airstrike happened at around 3 pm. So, about nine people, including three children and their women, have died,\u201d said Ali.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout nine people have sustained injuries, and they have been taken to the hospital for treatment,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a medical source at Al-Fasher South Hospital, who preferred to withhold his identity, said that the health facility received a dozen wounded people on Monday morning as a result of the airstrike carried out by the Sudanese Air Force.<\/p>\n

According to reports, the city of El Fasher has witnessed at least six airstrikes by the Sudanese army this month, killing and wounding several civilians, in addition to the victims of ground anti-aircraft missiles and bombs fired by the Rapid Support Forces.<\/p>\n

The conflict in Sudan broke out in mid-April last year, capping months of increasing tensions between the leaders of the military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).<\/p>\n
