Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The town planning survey of Jonglei State\u2019s Ayod County headquarters, Ayod Town, is underway, officials have said.<\/p>\n

James Chuol Jiek, the commissioner of Ayod County, told Radio Tamazuj Tuesday that the exercise started on 15 March and will continue until every resident gets a plot.<\/p>\n

A team from the state\u2019s land and housing ministry, he said, is in Ayod town to oversee the survey and land allotment process.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn 15 March, we started the process of surveying the town and allotting land to our people,\u201d Chuol said. \u201cWe initiated this exercise and sought the approval of the state leadership. Now, the process is ongoing, and only SSP 20,000 is charged as a token registration fee.\u201d<\/p>\n

The commissioner emphasized the importance of the town plan survey in enhancing service delivery.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are opening up roads and creating spaces for schools, hospitals, playgrounds, and other public spaces which mean services for our people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Madhol Ruac, the state ministry\u2019s land and housing deputy director for accounting, said the exercise is going well.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis exercise was launched on 13 February and we started with the opening of the main roads and surveying the market. From there, we will move to minor roads within residential areas and the allotment of land,\u201d he explained. \u201cI cannot say that we will finish the work in one or two months because the bulldozers always get problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

One Ayod town resident Mary Nyayual lauded the exercise as a major development and urged the county government to avail health and other basic services.<\/p>\n
