Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Transitional National Legislative Assembly will resume its normal sittings on Monday, April 8, 2024, at its new hall after almost three months of break.<\/p>\n

John Agny, the spokesperson of the National Assembly, told The City Review on Friday that the agenda for Monday\u2019s sitting was already out.<\/p>\n

Agany said that the top of the agenda for the House was the presentation of the joint report of the committee on water resources and irrigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will be having that sitting with two agendas only. One of the agendas that will be presented is the presentation of a joint report of the standing specialized committee for water resources and irrigations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that another report will be on the urgent motion of logging and deforestation of forests in parts of Eastern Equatoria State.<\/p>\n

Last month, Agany said the House would summon the new minister of finance and planning, Eng. Awow Daniel, to explain his plans to clear the salary arrears of civil servants, organized forces and lawmakers.<\/p>\n

He also said the governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Dr James Alic, would be summoned to explain his preferred measures to deal with the current economic hardships in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are saying that this kind of problem is already becoming a national problem…we will call them let them brief us on the way forward, and how this kind of situation can be resolved because the situation is already alarming,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that as soon as we open, there are numerous questions to be answered including the delay of the salaries. Now we are five or six months without receiving the salary,\u201d he noted<\/p>\n

The first session was presided over on Wednesday this week by President Salva Kiir where he asked the parliamentarians to act fast to save the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
