Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Commissioner of Yei River County, Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa, appealed to the World Bank to involve local partners in the implementation of the power project.<\/p>\n

Kanyikwa appealed while meeting a delegation of the World Bank and a national government official who visited Yei to assess the power and energy project.<\/p>\n

The commissioner reiterated that involving the local partners would create avenues to employ more youth in the area and nationals at large.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Commissioner called on the World Bank to consider involving local partners in the implementation of the project and creating local employment opportunities for the youth not to remain idle and participate in gang groupings,\u201d read the statement from his office.<\/p>\n

Kanyikwa appreciated the visiting delegations, adding they enabled the project to continue to exist in the area.<\/p>\n

He added that the availability of electricity would help the residents as well as boost trade and development.<\/p>\n

The commissioner, however, assured the World Bank and the national government that people in Yei County would sustain the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people of Yei are capable of sustaining the power project and shall not fail the World Bank and the government.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further reaffirmed that the South Sudan economic crisis could be easily solved in Yei River County if there is power to attract investors, adding that the absence of power has rendered several businesses to collapse and weakened social services.<\/p>\n
