Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>At least 70 women in Kuajok town of Warrap State have graduated in tailoring and briquette, a local official said.<\/p>\n

The two-month training was organized by a local organization, Women for Change organization (WC). It aimed at empowering women in entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n

Rose Anyang, Warrap State Minister of Gender, told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that tailoring and briquette skills will improve the living conditions of widows and other women with family responsibilities.<\/p>\n

The state minister also thanked the Women for Change organization for the initiative to empower women.<\/p>\n

“Today (Friday) is the graduation of 20 women who were trained in tailoring. These women include vendors in Kuajok market and other women within the state’s Women Union,” she said.<\/p>\n

“The number graduated today, Friday, is 50, so 30 women were trained on briquettes, which is how to preserve charcoal to last long. These critical skills will help women economize the meagre resources they have in their homestead. I appreciate Women for Change (WC), the Organization for Children (TOCH), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for this good initiative,” she further said.<\/p>\n

Minister Anyang urged the women to use skills acquired to improve living conditions.<\/p>\n

“It is important for women because it empowers them to improve their living conditions in Kuajok markets. I am now telling the women of Gogrial West County to be role models for their counterparts in Gogrial West. They should use their skills to start a business,” she concluded.<\/p>\n
