Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>There were scenes of jubilation when the Malualbaai payam community in Aweil East County received an ambulance donated by South Sudan President Salva Kiir.<\/p>\n

The ambulance, official said, will ease access to Malualbaai primary healthcare center.<\/p>\n

The center, currently, serves communities in Northern Bahr el Ghazal and Warrap states.<\/p>\n

Johnson Madhieu Amiath, a youth leader, said the need for an ambulance was brought to the attention of the president by Abraham Angac Akot, a former presidential guard.<\/p>\n

Akot also served as the commissioner of Malualbaai when the 32 defunct states existed.<\/p>\n

President Kiir reportedly tasked Benjamin Bol Mel, one of his advisors, to buy the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Upon its purchase, however, the ambulance was handed over to Akot who eventually requested the former Aweil East county commissioner, Theip Tong to deliver the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The county health director, Angony Ateny said the ambulance will handle emergencies.<\/p>\n

He, however, said the center lacks a gynecologist with referrals directed to Aweil hospital.<\/p>\n
