Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Dr Kennedy Gaaniko said South Sudan\u2019s push to hold an election in December 2024 remains on course.<\/p>\n

Addressing a gathering at Ibba County during the launch of the Kuyango Bridge, Gaaniko stressed the importance of the elections in empowering the people to choose their leaders through a democratic process.<\/p>\n

He underscored the necessity of ending the prevalent practice of political appointments based on various \u201cdecrees\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe December 2024 election will be a crucial moment for our region as it will allow the citizens to actively participate in the electoral process and select their representatives,\u201d Gaaniko said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy enabling the populace to elect their leaders, we aim to bring transparency, accountability, and enhanced governance to our communities,\u201d said Gaaniko.<\/p>\n

The deputy governor\u2019s statement mirrored a deep commitment to democratic principles and the fundamental right of individuals to choose their leaders.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe upcoming election is not just about filling leadership positions; it is about empowering our citizens to have a say in the direction of their communities and their nation.\u201d<\/p>\n
