Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>The Chairperson of the South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC) party, Moro Jenesio, lamented that he was encountering difficulties in conducting rallies at the local government levels.<\/p>\n Speaking to The City Review on Wednesday, Jenesio expressed frustration about the challenges faced by parties like SSNMC in their quest to hold open rallies at the local government level in densely populated areas.<\/p>\n \u201cThe other challenge that we have is that we are not free to conduct open rallies. In Juba, you can be able to conduct rallies, and down to the counties. It is still a challenge. The population is based at the local government levels,\u201d Jenesio lamented.<\/p>\n According to Jenesio, SSNMC party is incapable of conducting mobilization due to some challenges.<\/p>\n He added, \u201cIn Juba it is open, but sometimes we feel some kind of intimidation happening.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe urge all the partners to make sure that there is a political space for all the political parties to work out all their political activities. The element of civic space is the role of political parties, we have the law, so in our various capacities, we will be able to fill the gaps,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The opposition party leader further stated that multiparty needs open space for dialogues, and sharing ideas for collective decision-making for the prosperity of the country.<\/p>\n \u201cI urge that this open space should be for everybody, and work as political parties whose primary objective is for the prosperity of South Sudan,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Jenesio added that his party is still waiting for response from the Political Parties Council (PPC) over the registration fees, which he said could have been reduced to at least $ 10, 000 or SSP 10,000,000.<\/p>\n \u201cThe deadlock between political parties and PPC on what to pay or not to pay is what we are waiting for. Otherwise, we are prepared and feel that the PPC should consider at least $ 10,000 or SSP 10,000, 000 will be appropriate,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n The debate on the registration fees for political parties and the Political Parties\u2019 Council (PPC) has been raging between the council registrar and unregistered political parties as the parties decried over $ 50,000 claiming it \u201cunaffordable and unrealistic.\u201d<\/p>\n Addressing journalists on Tuesday, the Chairperson of the Reform Political Parties\u2019 Coalition (RPPC)\u2014 comprising four registered political parties\u2014Theresa Siricio, urged unregistered political parties in the country to find a better avenue with the council to iron out the issues of high fees amicably.<\/p>\n \u201cPPC is an institution that the political parties have participated in its making, so when it comes up with fees like that. It does not come out of a vacuum. It must have studied it.
