Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>An advocacy group urged President Salva Kiir to address the worsening cost of living that has subjected citizens to suffering.<\/p>\n Ter Manyang, the Executive Director of the Centre for Peace and Advocacy (CPA), issued a statement calling on the government to find a solution to the current worsening cost of living due to inflation in the country.<\/p>\n \u201cThe president must provide alternative solutions to inspire and give hope to his citizens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cYour Excellency, it is time for us to confront the situation with an open mind and honesty in order to prevent another unforeseen crisis due to the current economic hardship experienced by our citizens,\u201d he expressed.<\/p>\n He added that many citizens could not afford the basic services, while families continue to face trauma as they cannot even afford to bring food to the table regardless of their working day and night.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Centre for Peace and Advocacy (CPA), an advocacy group, has called on President Salva Kiir Mayradit to address the current economic crisis that is causing confusion and hardship among citizens,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Manyang noted that many households may forego meals due to the high prices in the market.<\/p>\n \u201cMany families are unable to afford even a single meal a day or night,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He argued that due to inflation, the civil servants and organised forces that have not been paid continue to battle high prices. He said for instance that fare from Jebel to Juba costs SSP1500, making the movement of people difficult.<\/p>\n \u201cSome family members in Juba are unable to afford the basic food items available in the market,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n He added that, according to the outcry of the citizens, much blame has been poured on the government that handles resources.<\/p>\n \u201cThey blame the government for turning a deaf ear to the concerns the civilian population is facing right now across the country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, the National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) resolved to summon the Economic Cluster chaired by Vice President Dr. James Wani Igga to answer questions about the looming hunger in the country.<\/p>\n The country\u2019s economy continues to worsen as the South Sudanese Pound (SSP) continues to depreciate against the United States Dollar (USD) and other currencies.<\/p>\n Source: The City Review South Sudan<\/b><\/p>\n For More News And Analysis About South-Sudan<\/a> Follow Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Yiep Joseph Africa-Press – South-Sudan.
