Africa-Press – South-Sudan. <\/strong><\/span>A general practitioner at the For You Health Center revealed that they receive around 100 medical cases a day at Al-Malik Refugee Camp in Chad.<\/p>\n

Dr. Maysa Younis Haroun told Radio Tamazuj that the health facility also lacks resources and is severely understaffed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe center provides general medical services, including a clinic and an emergency room, handling approximately 100 cases daily, with 75 in the clinic and 15 in the emergency room,\u201d she said. \u201cThe range of cases managed by the center includes viral infections, inflammations, diarrheal diseases, hypertension, and strokes.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Dr. Younis, the center is unable to handle childbirth cases due to a lack of medical resources and suffers from a severe shortage of medications, particularly for chronic diseases and pediatric care.<\/p>\n

She mentioned that the type of cases varies over time.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently, we are seeing a prevalence of viral infections and malaria in adults, as well as inflammations and diarrheal diseases in children,\u201d she said. \u201cThe center also deals with complex cases like hypertension and strokes, which are referred to other medical facilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The medic noted that no fatalities have been recorded at the center so far but highlighted the spread of malnutrition among children. She added that the center lacks sufficient medical staff, which hinders the provision of comprehensive care to patients, as the center\u2019s capacity does not match the daily influx of cases.<\/p>\n

Dr. Younis made a plea to relevant authorities to supply adequate medications, expand the center, open another clinic, and increase the number of medical personnel.<\/p>\n
